FOUNDATION COURSE IN CLINICAL RADIOLOGY
The Foundation Course in Clinical Radiology is a mature course established in the year 2007 with the primary aim of training foundation doctors and core trainees in medicine and surgery in the various nuances of Radiology. Exposure to the speciality of Radiology is universally limited in medical school undergraduate training, yet junior doctors are expected to read primary films and inform management. The situation is further compounded by the fact that early career choices have to be made, interviews faced, and within the limited time available, all this has to be achieved.
The Foundation Course aims to train junior doctors in applied cross-sectional anatomy and case-based pathologies around commonly encountered conditions. We also showcase the breadth of the speciality to our delegates so they are aware of the potentialities and limitations of Radiology and can then make the best use of a Department of Radiology.
Our syllabus is structured around the RCRs iREFER guidelines. (www.rcr.ac.uk)
The course has been very well received and continues to grow from strength to strength.
